Rheem to Navien Tankless Water Heater Replacement Icon at Legacy West in Plano, TX

GPS Plumbing recently completed a Rheem-to-Navien tankless water heater replacement at Icon at Legacy West in Plano, Texas.
The existing Rheem tankless water heater was removed and replaced with a Navien NPE-240A2 condensing tankless water heater. Switching brands isn't always a simple equipment swap, so our plumber first evaluated the existing plumbing, gas connection, venting, and recirculation setup before completing the new installation.
What We Installed
For this project, GPS Plumbing installed a Navien NPE-240A2 equipped with Navien's ComfortFlow® recirculation system.
The NPE-A2 series incorporates a buffer tank, a built-in recirculation pump, and controls designed to support hot-water recirculation. In homes configured for recirculation, this can help reduce the wait for hot water at fixtures throughout the property.
The installation included:
- Removal and haul-away of the existing Rheem tankless water heater
- Installation of the new Navien NPE-240A2
- Circulating tee
- Mini expansion tank
- New sediment trap
- Required vent modifications
- Updated plumbing connections
- Complete system testing
Why Venting Matters When Changing Tankless Water Heaters
A tankless replacement isn't always a direct one-for-one swap.
Different manufacturers, and even different models from the same manufacturer, have their own installation and venting requirements. Rather than assuming the previous Rheem venting configuration would work for the new equipment, our plumber evaluated the existing vent setup and modified it as needed for the Navien unit.
This is one reason homeowners and property managers should have tankless equipment installed by a licensed plumber who is familiar with the specific manufacturer and model being installed. Venting errors are one of the most common causes of tankless water heater performance issues and callbacks.
GPS Plumbing is a Navien Certified Installer, and this system was installed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and applicable local plumbing code requirements.
Final Testing
After installation, our plumber tested the new tankless water heater and all associated connections to verify proper operation and hot-water performance before closing out the job.
The finished project gave this Icon at Legacy West property a professionally installed Navien tankless system, with recirculation, venting, and supporting components fully configured for the new equipment.
